Allotment Shoot One 20th October 2012

As part of my Press Photography project we have to choose from one of either National Allotment Week, National Baking Week or National Knitting week.  One Saturday, whilst out walking the dogs, I found a local allotment.  I took down the contact number, gave it a ring on the  Monday and arranged to visit the following Saturday.

When I arrived the persona that I had spoken to wasn’t there.  I knew I needed local press style photographs of people at the allotment, so I had to very nervously speak to a couple and ask if I could photograph them.  Fortunately they said yes and posed with a strimmer and a wheelbarrow.  They thought it was hilarious, it was only the 2nd week that they had been down there!  While I was photographing, my contact arrived.  The secretary of the allotment was a wonderful old chap.  His son had done photography/film making at university, so he was very comfortable in front of a camera.

I was pleased with the images, especially the older man.  It was definitely an experience!
